Board President
Richard Horner, Child Welfare Specialist V, Program Manager
Richard Horner has three degrees in history, the last one a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 1977. He also has a Masters Degree in Social Work, from Louisiana State University in 1989. He has been employed with the state government of Louisiana since 1977 in the field of child welfare, specifically child protection work. In this field, he has worked as an investigator, family counselor, and now works in the state office as a program manager in the area of federal plans, accreditation, and strategic planning. He has three children, ages 12, 17, and 22. A member of the South Baton Church of Christ, he has taken part in a number of church related outreaches to the Baton Rouge community.

Board Vice-President
Albert Samuels
Albert L. Samuels is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Louisiana State University. He currently works as an assistant professor of Political Science at Southern University. Samuels has taught courses in American government, state and local government, Louisiana politics, constitutional law, civil liberties, the American presidency, and black politics. He is also the author of Is Separate Unequal: Black Colleges and the Challenge to Desegregation (University Press of Kansas, 2004). Samuels is married and has three children. He has been a member of the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ since 1987 and has participated in numerous outreach activities sponsored by the church.

Andree Reynaud
Andree' earned her Master's in Counseling from Louisiana State University, and is a nationally certified and licensed professional counselor in the state of Louisiana. She has over 17 years of counseling and teaching experience within higher education, and has presented workshops on various counseling topics including depression, peer counseling skills, responsible thinking and decision making. Andree' has done both individual and group counseling, and she is an approved supervisor of professional counseling interns. Currently she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Resource Education and Workforce Development.

Mona Hayden
Mona W. Hayden has been servicing on our Board since 2006. She has held positions at Louisiana Public Broadcasting and the Louisiana Board of Regents for Higher education before she began teaching. Mona has been a middle school teacher in Baton Rouge for 20 years. She is currently teaching at the Dunham School, a private Christian school in Baton Rouge. She is married to Randy Hayden and has one son, Jake.

Wade Baumgartner
Wade is originally from Illinois where he attended the University of Illinois and earned both a Ph.D. and a J.D. Dr. Baumgartner is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Louisiana and presently is the Assistant Director for Intellectual Property at the LSU Agricultural Center and he also maintains an exclusive private law practice. He is a member of the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ and recently completed teaching a class on Sunday mornings entitled "Creation and the Creator." Wade joined the Key Foundations board in February 2007 and is currently the board's Secretary. He is married and has two children.

Executive Director
Carolyn A. Myer, Certified Montessori Teacher
Carolyn earned her Montessori Certification through the Montessori World Educational Institute and is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Psychology. Her experience with children includes a range of working at a local Montessori school, local public schools, home schooling, and continued work with children’s ministries at her church. A variety of work and volunteer experience have given her valuable opportunities in working as an advocate for foster children, the developmentally disabled, and crisis counseling with clients through the Phone. Carolyn is gaining valuable experience in both grant reviewing and grant writing through her nonprofit opportunities. Her husband is a local businessman in the community and is the deacon for the Campus Ministry of their church, ministering to students at Louisiana State University and Southern University. They have two daughters, Courtney and Carmen. She is an avid reader and is positioning herself to encourage strong literacy skills by teaching others.
